Sanibel & Islamorada

My dad, mom, sister, and I are making a 3 week trip to sanibel island and islamorada florida. If anyone has any information on fishing and location would be greatly apprecciated. I will be fly fishing, baitfishing, and lure fishing. I will have a 10 weight rod.

Re: Sanibel & Islamorada

Clouserkid,

First off, staying in the fishing capital of the world for three weeks sounds awesome!  As far as fishing goes, I've only fished down in south FL twice but If I was going to make a few suggestions I would say this.  Permit fishing should be hot right now and a 10 wt is perfect for the size fish you have a chance to catch down there.  Most places you'll need a boat or kayak to get to the optimal fishing locations.  If i were you, and since your there for so long, I would search the web and find some good flats to wade around Big Pine Key.  the water there looks amazing and very fishy.  When I've gone down there I have used a guide named Raul.  He's young and a really chill dude http://www.biscaynebayfishing.com/reports.php . check him out if your thinking of getting a guide.  Also I would just scour the internet for information on the type of fishing your planning on doing and talk to the guys in the fly/tackle shops about whats hot.  Really you have chances to catch just about anything down there right now, although the larger poons have prob moved north for the most part.  Good luck, take pictures, and let everyone know how the trip goes.  TIGHT LINES

Ryan

Re: Sanibel & Islamorada

If you don't go with a guide try around the bridges from the shoreline. All the bridges hold fish with moving water and at night it can be really good sometimes. Not sure about Sanibel.
